What Is a Slot?
The slot HTML element is part of the Web Components technology suite. This element allows users to separate DOM trees and to add global attributes to each. Specifically, a named slot has a name attribute. There are various other uses for slots as well. In this article, we look at the various types and properties of a slot. It is important to remember that a slot can be either active or passive. In both cases, the slot action is used to display the content of a scenario.
The slot represents the area in the offensive zone where a player has the highest chance of scoring without deflection. The slot is low enough to allow players to take wrist shots while still having a clear line of vision to the net. A defender’s position in the slot can prevent small wingers from shooting the puck with accuracy. Therefore, a defender will lay a big hit on small wingers who are in the slot.
When a user says a word or phrase containing a slot, the bot can map the text to the respective entity value. For example, if the entity value of New York is mapped to NYC, then the user may also type in “New York” or “Big Apple” instead of ‘New York.’ This way, the bot understands the user’s intent and maps each slot to the appropriate entity. Once the mapping is complete, the user can add more slots to the conversation by simply clicking the ‘Add’ button or typing the name of the slot.
